That said. I am in business here as a business not a hobby.
That said,I bought my wife an expensive set of Gold earrings and a ring yesterday, Reduced combined S/H was $12.95. Excessive? I think not. Cost to post probably will be about half of that or less (UPS).Someone has to pack and ship these and I’m sure they would like to be paid for that also. You may work for free, I don’t.
Since I started selling in the 60’s there has always been a Handling fee for time involve in preparing and shipping any item, In fact most “as seen on TV” include a second item free for only a processing fee.
I think that online Mom & Pops seller should learn a valuable lesson from very successful online infomercial Guys, Shamwa, Ron-co, Jack La Lain ,QVC and so on.
Why do so many think they know more that the big boys, My feeling is sellers need to learn from those who have spent years learning how to present their products successfully.
Shipping items for postage is not realistic, True It’s your booth and you can do as you please, But remember one important thing,When you do exact shipping you not only short your self the time and supplies necessary to ship your items, You also do a dis service to all other sellers who do charge S/H, Again It’s your business.
I spent 5 hours Packaging and posting online Monday preparing items for shipping, I will not work for free, How about you?
Another sore spot with me are sellers who list items with ridiculously low prices and then show item out of stock once you purchase these items, If you do that, Shame on you.All you do is give us all a bad name here on Bonanzle.
You will never be the lowest priced seller here, So why not be the very best merchant you can be offering good products at reasonable prices with fair S/H.
We all want to see Bonanzle successful, Lets be the best we can be.
Wishing much success to all Bonanzler & a very Merry Christmas to all of you.Larry
All I can add to this Larry ... is with some the boxes and packing materials also adds to cost.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I dislike selling on some places is due to the ridicous low prices some sell their items for. I deal in Vinyl records, CDs etc mostly, and those items can be found at crazy low prices.
We put alot of time into cleaning and completely playing each one, so yes, I maybe higher, but at least you know what you are getting!
This is my business... not a hobby or a social event. I try to keep things fair, but when you have others giving things away for or way below cost it is difficult at times to compete.
Glad to see another seller who treats his selling as the business that it is.
Thank you from one professional to another. Bless you Renagade, We love Bonanzle and wish this site to succeed, Ebay sellers have so degraded auctions and store to the point that It's almost impossible to turn a profit.
ReplyDeleteI guess this will always be a problem on all sites due to the fact that there are so many folks here have a clean out my closet mentality.
I'm so thankful that most of my merchandise is unique and we are able to offer a wide variety of products.
I do quite a bit of looking at other booths and one thing I notice that most sellers who complain about no sales, Have almost no products to sell.
I ran into a seller here who low balled items to draw customers or which I sell also, So I bought the item, And received an out of stock notice, So I ordered another item, and am still waiting to see what happens, It bothered me since it made my items look higher in cost.
A number of years ago, I had a very successful Ebay Power Seller(Of which we are also) tell my friend that It was a big mistake to think that trying to be the low price leader, You will never succeed that way, Always provide a good product at a good price and you will be successful.
